Implementation completion is not operating acceptance
A successful connector run proves that an integration executed. It does not prove that all expected assets arrived, that the correct source won a conflict or that a licensing conclusion is supportable. Agree the business decision, evidence requirements and accountable owner before treating an output as authoritative.
Give each field a source rule
For identifiers, ownership, entitlements and lifecycle state, define the authoritative source and how conflicts are resolved. One system does not have to be authoritative for every field. Retain enough lineage to explain why a record changed and whether the change is accepted.
Test a failure, not just a full load
Use an approved local test scope. Introduce a missing owner, stale import, duplicate identity or unsupported product mapping. Check whether the exception is visible, routed and resolved without silently producing a confident answer from incomplete evidence. Do not introduce synthetic records into production without an approved test route.
Example: a green import with an incomplete estate
A daily job reports success, but a source filter excludes a newly acquired business unit. The operating control compares expected coverage with received coverage, so the missing scope becomes an exception. The integration owner fixes ingestion; the decision owner determines which reports must be withheld or qualified until coverage is restored.
Use vendor-specific instructions with release validation
ServiceNow SAM Pro/HAM Pro, Flexera One, Snow Atlas and other platforms implement controls differently. Confirm tenant release, enabled modules, licensing and permissions before following any runbook.
